Some news on the Information Technology Act Amendment Bill, 2006. The parliamentary committee is reported to have suggested further modifications to the Information Technology Act Amendment Bill, 2006 with a specific focus towards, “Grooming of children for sexual relationship”. The section contemplates the act being a distinct criminal offense. The committee also wants the IT ministry to criminalize child porn under Article 9 of the European Convention of Cyber Crimes. So it seems like the bill is not in suspended animation. It is also reported that it will be put up for public comment. I am wishing, hoping, waiting.
